Pettigrew Academy is a Montessori school that gives elementary through high school students a strong foundation in writing, reading, literature, science and math. The Montessori method centers on meeting the individual needs of the child and allows adults to see children as they really are, creating environments that foster the fulfillment of their highest potential—spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual.
Like all Montessori schools, we stress good manners, etiquette, respect and tolerance for others as well as the environment, and peaceful resolution of conflict. We also emphasize research and hands-on experience in science, zoology, botany, geography, and math.
We offer art, music appreciation, and Spanish classes for all ages and beginning piano starting in grade 3 as part of our weekly curriculum. The Junior Master Gardener program is a weekly activity that is a part of the botany curriculum for grades 1 through 8. We also engage in regular community service projects.
